About Judges

  • Dr. A. Francis Julian

    Dr. Antony Francis Julian is a distinguished practitioner and Senior Advocate in Supreme Court of India. He has more than 40 years of experience in law practice. He holds a Doctor of Juridical Science degree (SJD) from Tulane University, USA and Masters in Comparative Laws degree from Southern Methodist University, USA.

    He has been teaching the subjects of International Commercial Arbitration and Maritime Law as a visiting faculty at institutes like the Indian Law Institute, and has also been serving as a supervisor for Doctoral students. He is an active member of the boards of several academic and non-government organizations both in India and abroad.

  • Adv. Meenakshi Arora

    Ms. Meenakshi Arora is a lawyer designated as senior counsel practicing at Supreme Court of India. She graduated in law from M. S. University of Baroda. She had also, for a brief period, worked with Goodwin andSoble, an international law firm based in Washington DC. She was also the standing counsel for the Election Commission of India. In 2013, a full bench of Supreme Court designated her as a senior counsel being only the fifth woman to be designated so. She was one of the members of the drafting committee which drafted the regulations, "The Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), Regulations", to provide grievance redressal to women lawyers from sexual harassment at the Supreme Court."

  • Mr. Anil Malhotra

    Mr. Anil Malhotra is a Chandigarh-based practicing lawyer. He has to his credit several publications on the legal aspects of surrogacy including the book “Surrogacy in India – A Law in the Making”. He is a part-time lecturer of civil procedural law and matrimonial remedies for past six years, at the Punjab University. Mr. Malhotra practices in India in interpretation and application of foreign court orders regarding divorce decrees, child abduction, custody, maintenance, adoption and family related issues for non-resident Indians.

  • Dr. Manish Arora

    Dr. Manish Arora is an advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India and Director of Universal Law Publishing Company, which is one of the most noted law publishers in the sub-continent. Dr. Manish Arora did his graduation from Hindu College, Delhi University and LL.B. from Law Faculty, Delhi University and further joined Harvard Law School in USA for Doctorate in Intellectual Property Law. He is a Senior Consultant to LexisNexis. He is a Summer Course faculty at Harvard Law School, USA, Deputy Director Amity Law School, Delhi, visiting Faculty with National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He has edited and authored a number of books and edits a monthly national magazine for lawyers.

  • Adv. BasavaPrabhu S. Patil

    Mr. BasavaPrabhu Patil is a Senior Advocate practicing in the Sureme Court of India. He was the youngest lawyer to be designated as Senior Advocate at the age of 39 by the High Court of Karnataka. He has been engaged to represent the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan in important matters, including the Inter-State Krishna River Water Dispute. Before being designated as Senior Advocate, he started his practice by establishing a law firm in Bangalore, which later merged with another firm to become Holla, Holla, Patil and Nettar Associates, the largest litigating firm in South India. He has many reported judgments to his credit including the landmark judgment of Constitution Bench in the matter of K.T. Plantation Pvt. Ltd., v. State of Karnataka. He was awarded the National Bar Award in 2009 in recognition of his dedication to the practice of Civil Law and was the recipient of the Aryabhatta International award in 2014. An alumnus of University Law College, Bangalore, he was the Chairman of the Moot Court Society and won many competitions, including the best memorial at Jessup International Moot Court, India while pursing his degree in law.

  • Adv. Shailesh Madiyal

    Mr. Shailesh Madiyal is an advocate on record of the Supreme Court of India. In his formative years in the law school itself he has won accolades like the ‘Best Speaker’ at the International Refugee Law Moot Court competition organized by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees at Chennai. He was part of the team that won the National Rounds of the Commonwealth International Law Moot Court Competition where he was once again declared the ‘Best Speaker’. He then represented India at the Commonwealth International Law Moot Court competition held at Malaysia, & at the Philip C. Brown International Client Counselling Competition held at Ireland, United Kingdom.

  • Prof. Khagesh Gautam

    Professor Khagesh Gautam is currently an Associate Professor of Law and Assistant Dean (Research and Publications) at Jindal Global Law School. In addition he is also an Assistant Director with Center on Public Law & Jurisprudence and an Assistant Director with the Mooting and Advocacy Program. Professor Gautam is a graduate from Campus Law Center and has received his Master degree from Columbia Law School. He was admitted to the Delhi Bar Council in July, 2008 and was an associate in the law firm of Desai & Diwanji. He has practiced before the Punjab & Haryana High Court and has to his specialization, indirect taxation, administrative and constitutional litigation. Mr. Khagesh has also delivered a lecture to high court judges on constitutional law at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal.

  • Prof. Weatherly A Schwab

    Professor Weatherly Schwab received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell University and her law degree from Harvard University. During her career as an academician she has taught a wide variety of courses, including Legal Methods, Legal Research and Writing, Statutory Interpretation, Law of Torts and Consumer Protection, Sports Law, and Public International Law.


  • Mr. Gaurav Agrawal

    Mr. Gaurav Agrawal pursued his graduation in law from NLSIU Bangalore and secured the first rank in the University. He has won several awards and scholarships including the prestigious Inlaks scholarship and the National Law School Merit Scholarship. He has also worked with Mr. Raju Ramachandran in the Supreme Court and has represented the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Comptroller and Auditor General, CBI, Delhi Government, Income Tax Department, and Directorate General of Foreign Trade before the Supreme Court. He has conducted also conducted international commercial arbitration and been appointed as amicus curiae by the Supreme Court in a few matters.

  • Mr. Aviral Sahai

    Mr. Aviral Sahai completed his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Jindal Global Law School in 2014 where he was actively involved in mooting, debating and theatre. He has been working with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas thereafter in various practice areas including Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity Investments, Debt Financing, Equity Capital Markets and is currently a part of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. In his current team, Aviral handles both, civil and criminal litigations, including white collar crimes, before the Bombay High Court and various state bodies. He is also actively involved in various domestic and international commercial arbitrations.

  • Mr. Karl Rustomkhan

    Mr. Karl Rustomkhan is currently working at the chambers of Mr Shirish M. Gupte, Senior Counsel, Bombay High Court. He did his master's in Criminal law from the University of Edinburgh. He was the winner of 4th Edition of the NLS International Arbitration Moot Court Competition in 2011, and also a semi-finalist in the Centre of Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) Moot Competition in 2011 held at NLU, Delhi.



  • Ms. Preeti Mechan

    Ms. Preeti Mechan is a dynamic litigation lawyer practicing in Delhi. She has completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar and her LL.M. in Corporate & Business Laws in the year 2016 from the same institute. During her Law School, she actively participated in various competitions including Foreign Direct Investment International Moot Court Competition, 2010 held at the Pepperdine University School of Law, Malibu, California, USA, organized by Centre for International Legal Studies, Salzburg, Austria; Suffolk University Law School, Boston, Massachusetts; Pepperdine University Law School, Malibu, California; German Institution of Arbitration, Frankfurt and Centre of European law, King’s College London wherein her team attained 6th position.

  • Mr. Puneet Passi

    Mr. Puneet is currently working with Luthra & Luthra as an Associate. He previously worked as an associate at A.K. Law Chambers. He is a graduate from NLU Odhisa. Mr. Puneet has to his credit many moot competition achievements such as, 7th NUJS Herbert Smith Freehills National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition 2014-15 – represented the university as a speaker and stood as semi-finalist. KIIT 2ND National Moot Court Competition 2014 – represented the university and received the best memorial award. He has researched on the various aspects of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 and has rendered his services for UNICEF’s program for State Juvenile Police Units (SJPUs). He has also drafted a research note on the provisions of Security Amendment bill 2013.
